From the 18th to the 22nd of September 2011 two rubicon employees have been part of an economic delegation initiated by the City of Vienna, in Baku. At the economic forum “Vienna’s urban technologies for Azerbaijan” they presented rubicon’s comprehensive e-government know-how and established interesting contacts.

Economic forum about urban technologies for Azerbaijan

The center of the journey was the two-day economic forum “Vienna’s urban technologies for Azerbaijan”, where more than 60 Austrian experts and business representatives presented their specific expertise to high-level Azerbaijani decision-makers. On the agenda were topics like e-government, culture and tourism, traffic planning, alternative energies and waste management.

Besides the economic forum the Viennese delegation met with high-level representatives of the Azerbaijani government and the city of Baku as well as important Azerbaijani business representatives.

Austrian know-how for Azerbaijan

rubicon, as a long-time partner of the city of Vienna, decided to participate immediately. In the course of discussions with local IT companies concrete points of contact for further talks about the export of Austrian know-how and Austrian solutions have arisen. “Not only Baku is worth a visit. Azerbaijan has to offer, besides cultural aspects, economically a lot for Austrian companies“, says Roland Hofmann, Sales Manager at rubicon IT GmbH.

Azerbaijan is because of its commodity wealth and various ambitious infrastructure projects an increasingly interesting growing market for the domestic economy. At the same time the Azerbaijani government has started a technological renewal process. “Vienna is known for its excellent quality of life and the efficient urban technologies. We can score with that here in Azerbaijan”, explains deputy mayor Renate Brauner, who lead the delegation.
