Modern hardware is important to develop and operate innovative software solutions. That’s why RUBICON regularly upgrades the hardware equipment. This leads to the question of how hardware that is no longer needed can be reused.
Reusing instead of disposing
Giving no longer required hardware to educational institutions is an excellent way to reuse it. For this reason, we gave a set of hardware to HTL (Federal Higher Technical Institute) Spenglergasse in Vienna. The donation consisted of two servers, four computers, several drives and various other components.
“The hardware we got from RUBICON is very useful for our lessons. The servers will be integrated into the existing rack and the workstations will be used in our PC laboratory”, says Martin Ollrom, head of the Central Information Technology Services of HTL Spenglergasse.
“We no longer need the donated hardware, however it is fully functional. It would be a pity to dispose it. We are pleased that it has a new, practical use in HTL Spenglergasse”, explains Thomas Kuhta, Managing Director of RUBICON IT GmbH.
